Ruscombe's Wildlife Ponds - October 2015

At its meeting on 7th October Ruscombe Parish Council recorded its gratitude for the excellent pond conservation work done by CROW (Conserve Reading on Wednesdays) during August and September which included the difficult task of clearing the willow from Ruscombe Pond situated at the crossroads where Stanlake Lane meets Ruscombe Lane / Waltham Road.

A similar clearance of the Castle End Road pond  was carried out by the local conservation volunteers FORWOOD (Friends of Ruscombe Wood).

The network of small wildlife ponds is a fine feature of the Ruscombe landscape. The work done to maintain them by conservation volunteers (particularly FORWOOD, all year round) is invaluable.
