CANCELLATION OF REFUSE SKIP LORRY

Wokingham Borough Council has decided to withdraw this amenity service throughout the Borough with immediate effect. New government regulations requiring the separation of waste, along with safety issues at some locations, make it no longer practical.

Ruscombe Parish Council has objected strongly to the sudden withdrawal, which means that the already scheduled visits to Crest Close in February and March will NOT now take place.

The regular weekly household refuse collection, and the fortnightly green waste collection, will remain unchanged.

The alternative way of rubbish disposal is to visit the two local refuse sites:

Longshot Lane, Bracknell, RG12 1RL

Smallmead, Island Road, Reading RG2 0RP

For large household items, if you cannot visit one of these sites, you can arrange a collection from Veolia (WBC’s contractor). There is a charge for this service, although the collection of fridges and freezers only is FREE to Pensioners.

When needed, please contact Veolia on 0118 909 9360 or e-mail wokingham.enquiries@veolia.co.uk

For more information on all refuse related issues, please either ring Wokingham Direct on 0118 974 6000 or consult www.wokingham.gov.uk/rubbish
